All proceeds go to Refuge of Light, a local non-profit organization dedicated to establishing a long term safe-home that provides physical, mental and spiritual healing in an effort to overcome the brutalization of modern day slavery called 'sex trafficking', in the lives of victimized girls under the age of 18 within the US. TYLER The Annual Tyler Azalea 10K and Fun Run, one of the oldest and greatest 10Ks in the state of Texas will begin at 8 a.m. The race is held at Bergfeld Park and benefits Children's Village Home for Children in Tyler. The Palestine Dogwood Jamboree will be held on at 7 p.m. at Palestine Civic Center Hwy 19 North at Loop 256. This is the eighth year for the show. There are five performances each year with Country Music Artists from all over the state as well as other states as well. The show is always new and different. It is Branson, Mo. style with comedy and great country music. At each show three young people compete for the Dogwood Jamboree Artist of the year. The winner of each show returns to the stage for the finals and receives an award and large cash prize. The audience votes on those competing. The show is family styled also and young and old all participate. Dates for future shows are given below. PALESTINE From the hilarious screen success "Some Like It Hot," "SUGAR" comes to the stage of the historic Texas Theatre in downtown Palestine during the annual Dogwood Trails celebration. The Historic Texas Theatre, Historic Texas Theatre 212 W. Crawford St., is one of the oldest and most beautiful theatres in East Texas. Friday, March 23 Opening Night & Wine and Cheese Reception. “Some Like It Hot” is an American comedy film, made in 1958 and released in 1959. "SUGAR" chronicles the zany lives of two musicians, of the prohibition era, who witness a gang slaying. Forced to disguise themselves as women, they join an all-female orchestra, and the games begin! The storyline is set in the 1920s, and centered around two out-of-work musicians Joe and Jerry, who witness a Valentine’s Day mob shooting in Chicago. In order to escape the gangsters, Joe and Jerry become Josephine and Daphne and join an all female band headed to Miami! The scene is set with both guys who are masquerading as women getting involved in romantic entanglements that will have audiences in stitches.
