Description:
Longview World of Wonders is now accepting team applications for its World of Battling Robots League. Elementary and middle school students (1st-8th grade) from across East Texas are invited to sign up and compete as teams. The teams must design and build LEGO® robots to move and perform various functions. The team registration deadline is Jan. 14, 2012. A minimum of 3 members is required to form a team. Competitions will be held on Feb. 25, March 31 and April 28, 2012 held at the Longview Mall. The cost is $55/team member, which includes a class 1 robot. Description:
PALESTINE From the hilarious screen success "Some Like It Hot," "SUGAR" comes to the stage of the historic Texas Theatre in downtown Palestine during the annual Dogwood Trails celebration. The Historic Texas Theatre, Historic Texas Theatre 212 W. Crawford St., is one of the oldest and most beautiful theatres in East Texas. “Some Like It Hot” is an American comedy film, made in 1958 and released in 1959. "SUGAR" chronicles the zany lives of two musicians, of the prohibition era, who witness a gang slaying. Forced to disguise themselves as women, they join an all-female orchestra, and the games begin! The storyline is set in the 1920s, and centered around two out-of-work musicians Joe and Jerry, who witness a Valentine’s Day mob shooting in Chicago. In order to escape the gangsters, Joe and Jerry become Josephine and Daphne and join an all female band headed to Miami! The scene is set with both guys who are masquerading as women getting involved in romantic entanglements that will have audiences in stitches.
